Pool Heater Project

Usually my family pool is too cool for my comfort, so I proposed to my dad, @UberFrugal, that we construct a heater. After some brainstorming, we came to the conclusion that we would build a solar heater consisting primarily of a black coil of hose. It will be hooked up to the pool pump's discharge, and the water flow rate will be variable by valve.

Check out the research so far.

Overture to the Commencement of a Very Rigid Blog

I plan on creating my own custom blog using:
Until the eventual opus miraculous is complete, this blog will serve as a temporary means to publish my humble musings. Possible topics include:
  • philosophy
  • technology
  • cosmology
  • web development
  • life extension (gerontology, nutrition, and related biochemistry)
  • alternative energy
  • language
  • music
  • hellishly intense introspective nightmares
among other things.

I hope to keep a record of my transition to SVN and CakePHP. Up until yesterday I'd been manually controlling versions of my own basic PHP framework (lame). I'm radically shifting my development behavior from very DIY to a very DRY model-driven architecture.

I don't know how I'll do with consistency here, but I've been pretty active with my bookmarks and status updates. If you're interested in what I'm up to, take a gander at:
  • my tweets - I'll post a status update when I'm doing something that I consider to be noteworthy (but that you may not)
  • my delicious bookmarks - These give you a very good idea of the information that I've been absorbing on the web. I even add notes (comments and/or summaries) for most of the links.
  • my flickr photostream - For my personal photo library.
If you like the same things I do, follow my blog and I'll follow yours.
